Hello Clay people,
I want to have some nice slides of my work as I want
to enter some shows that only take slides.
I admit it... I am photography challenged so I need to draw
on your expertise.
I need a Photography for Dummies crash course. It would be
great if you could suggest a book or web site that would take
some of the mystery out of f-stops and shutter speed and
field of vision and, and, and.....
I have a Nikon N50 which is a SLR camera with a 35-80 lens.
What settings are best for close-ups? I have daylight 250w
bulbs and will use daylight film. What speed film is best and
what settings should I use?
After reading the backgrounds thread on Clayart
I went on a quest. I found a car rug material in an Eagle store,
that recently snuffed a mom and pop hardware store
which had been in business for a very long time.
The 5x4 piece cost $7.50, is a little
darker than the 18% photo background paper.
It can be brushed, washed or vacuumed, and the back side
can be used also.
It is on a huge roll so you can get any length you desire.
It was $1.98 a linear foot.
I haven't developed my roll of regular film so I cannot attest to
how well it works yet.
After calling around and getting astronomical price quotes from
photography shops for reflectors I bought Brooder reflectors
(alas my friends, purchased also at Eagle Hardware).
These reflectors have large ceramic sockets that will take
a 650 watt bulb! So if I cannot figure out how to take
pictures/slides I can go into the raising of chicks business! :)
Thanks in advance for your advice and humor!
