Any one out there like to suggest a few places to get some porcelain ready
made to use for throwing on the wheel? Am looking for alternate source of
premade ready to use porcelain, have used Runyans and A.R.T.'s and would like
to find another source for cone 10 porcelain if possible.

Minnesota Clay Co. has a Grolleg Porcelain that works quite well. They will
send and it's about $35 per 50 lbs - I think. Ruth Radin

....I don't know where you live, but Standard Ceramic in Pittsburgh, Pa.
has a Grolleg porcelain for cone 10 which I like...Clay 257. Standard
Ceramic is a super supplier---I've used them for 25 years and they have
always been very prompt. Moist clays from Standard are available at
Bailey's in Kingston, NY., too. Regards, Carolyn aka CNC

Dave,

Given your interest in the Rochester, MI show and the fact that you have
bought porcelain from Runyan, I assume that you're in Michigan. We get our
porcelain from Rovin, in Troy. We get the RO11G. The G is for Groellig. The
grog in this porcelain is very finely ground and the texture is wonderful.
Fires to a nice clear white. Possibly not quite as translucent as some (but
then maybe we should make our walls thinner). I think the price right now is
around 46 to 51 cents per pound in relatively small volume. I could be wrong
on the price. I can check that if you want.

Dave,
If A.R.T. is convenient to you, Great Lakes Clay Supply is not very far
either. They have several porcelains, most of them good in the ^10 range.
Check their website at where you can view their
catalog. Another possibilty would be Standard Ceramic Supply.

Dave:

I'm from the Detroit area, and I get a beautiful Grolleg porcelain from Rovins i
Taylor, MI. phone # 734-374-0010. It is located behind the Gibraltor Trade
Center on Racho Rd. off I 75. The number of this porcelain in RO99. All their
porcelains are good, but I find that this is the whitest. The Henry Ford
Community College has started using this clay as one of it's class clays. Good
Stuff.
