Robert Yellin, your Japan Times articles are always interesting.
alas, too bad most or all of those fascinating exhibits never
come abroad.
but, recently a ceramic friend in japan sent me two tapes of
video copies from many "Togei Homon(?)(Today's Ceramics)"
programs broadcasted on NHK-2, i think, last year ('97). about
dozen ceramicists, 30 min. for each, were introduced. (of
course, the programs were in japanese.)
as many friends, here, wanted copies, i called NHK and found
NHK does not offer any programs videos.
Robert, are there any such videos similar to these programs,
available? the videos introducing many contemporary ceramics
and ceramic sites, not necessarily from TV programs, even in
japanese (better still if subtitled in english)?
your info. would be appreciated. thank you.

Hi and thanks for your eamil. Sorry for the delay in answering.
NHK does a regular program on Sun. morning on different ceramists,
of course it's in Japanese with no subtitles. There are some companies
that
do put out videos for retail sale on individual potters or potting
centers-
all are in the same format as the NHK series. If you would be interested
I'll see
what I can find out.
