Hello clayarters,

Thought those of you who know Ron Roy from his helpful contributions to
this list, would be interested in seeing his award winning,"BEST IN SHOW",
plate on FUSION'S, (The Ontario Clay and Glass Assoc.) new web page. It is
still under construction but his platter is there.

In the catalogue, these were the remarks made by the juror, Walter Sunahara,

"Ron Roy's tenmoku plate is a masterpiece. This porcelain plate
demonstrates the artist's confidence in the medium. The maker is at
complete peace with the work, an extension of himself where everything
becomes one."

Well, so right. Those who went to NCECA in Las Vegas will remember a plate
of his in the NCECA show there. This one is even better. Congratulations
again Ron, you are a constant source of inspiration. Work that is
completely yours and no one else's.

Decided that I've been lurking too long, so good to see Joyce and Tony back.

Liz

Congratulations Roy. I hope to see your work one of thes days.

and regarding Liz Willoughby

I was at a party the other day in Ladysmith and poured my wine into a
beutiful shino tea bowl which I assumed was my hosts, Lois Romanows.

When I complemented her on it she told me it was made by her friend from
Ontario, Liz Willoughby.

Damn I thought, I know that name, then it clicked, Clay art, of course.

Nice work Liz.

By the way, on the subject of the blues, Don Reitz pulled a few beautiful
bowls with blue slip out of the dogie of the first Tozan firing. I agree
with everyone saying the blues potters like seem to be quite different than
those that the stores are full off. If we were limited to those I'd stick
to shinos and temmokus. My daughter keeps bugging me for the teapot I
promised her a year ago, Ive been delaying because she wanrts it in blue
(cobalt). Maybe I'll do a woo blue and try to educate her a bit.

It was a pleasure drinking from your teabowl and putting a pot to the name
Liz. Such a small clayart world.
