I have a electric motor I am attaching to a Brent Kick wheel. Does
anybody know where to get a rubber wheel that I can attach to the motor
shaft to rub against the flywheel? The shaft is 5/8 inch wide and about
4 inches long. Any help appreciated.

Scott,

You might want to pull the rubber drum wheel from a junked dryer. Or
buy a new one for that matter. The one I had on a homemade kickwheel
came from an old Speed Queen.

I have a Brent kickwheel. I found a 2" dia rubber tire on a plastic
hub that was sold at a hobby store as a wheel for a radio controlled
automobile model. The hub axle hole size was less than my motor shaft
diameter so I drilled the hub out to fit. The wheels were sold in sets of
two. The first one lasted several years, and the second one is on the way
to lasting longer that the first.
My motor is a dc motor, and I control the speed with a variac
(variable transformer) rescued by my son from a trash barrel at Lawrence
Berkely Laboratory, damage repaired, and output rectified with a Radio Shack
full wave rectifier.

Try a hockey puck, drilled to size for the shaft.

Hi Scott-

For years I have been using hockey pucks as the drive wheel on my motorized
kick wheel. They are quite hard and last me about 1 to 1 1/2 years before
needing to be replaced. The centre shaft has to be drilled, but they
retail for about $1. to $1.50 so are quite inexpensive to stock. What else
would you expect someone to think of who lives in a northerly climate!!!

Hi Scott,

On my kickwheel I have a solid rubber wheel about 6" diameter that we pick
up at Aubuchon's every few years when it wears out, which is attached to
the spline of an old grinder. Costs afew bucks. I think such a wheel is a
common hardware store item.

hello, I believe in the old days we would replace the rubber drive
wheels on Randall kick/electric wheels with rubber drive wheels from
cloths dryer drums? I would think appliance repair parts warehouse folks
could help at significant savings.
