During the month of Oct. 1996 my wife I and two other couples of friends
rented a van to take a little vacation from our home in Monroe, La. Our
trip took us to Virginia and south to Florida and back to Louisiana.
Since my wife and I were interested in visiting some pottery studios and
etc., we were very pleased to have an opportunity to stop off in
Seagrove, which I had heard was a famous pottery center, and check it
out. We had a map and a list of about 95 potteries. Since we had only
a few hours to visit, we chose an area a few miles out of Seagrove that
had about ten potteries. Well, to get to my point. About four miles
out of town, our rented van stopped running. About five minutes later a
gentleman stopped and asked if he could help us. He took me into
Seabrook to a garage where the owner called a man who owned a towing
wrecker. The wrecker was one of those $80,000 and up jobs. The wrecker
owner made two trips from Seagrove to our van, (in that $80,000 wrecker)
repaired our van to the point that we could get to the next town and get
a new alternator installed. And he charged us $25.00, yes $25.00!!

We didn't get to visit any potteries , but we met three of the nicest
gentlemen that I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I wish that I
could remember their names so that everyone could know these fine
Seagrove fine people. I Hope to go back some day and see sone of their
fine Pottery.

PS. I wonder if Mel would get the kind of treatment that we received
since his unkind bashing of Seagrove potters?
