Morning: I have been reading with interest all the postings re Shino =
glazes.
Saw Tony =26 Shelia's late this summer - stunning =21. Another reason to =
pursue
Shinos and Hada Haki type glazes I noted on TV this morning. The Color
Institute ( not sure of full title) has announced that orange is the color =
for
the Millenium =21 A nice orange not retro 80's burnt orange. So, the color=
is
going to appear in alot of products that are manufactured. Therefore, the
consumer with taste, will be looking for unique items in this color range. =
So,
all that testing and work will pay off in your bank accounts =21 I realize =
that
most potters do not pursue these glazes with money in mind but nice to know =
the
market will be expanding for this work.
Batts: Thank you Donn B. for explanation for making batts from tiles. Had =
an
old Ci plastic batt and some HRJohnson Bisque tiles buried in studio =
(collect
alot of stuff after 18 yrs ) My studio assistant cut down the batt ( use =
coarse
blade at high rpms, if you go slow it melts and gums up the blade) Made the
square center cut, ground off the knobs off the tiles and I now have a =
really
Great small bat system. The tiles fit almost flush ( a cat whisker =
difference)
also made a beveled cut in batt to insert tool for prying up enough to lift.
Expected possible distortion at that stage but did not happen. Pots pop off
bats. New tools are such fun...
Brents: I have a near 30 yr old CXC ( steel plate table ). Years ago I had
alot of problems attempting to fix foot pedal/ controls etc. I ended up =
getting
a Solder Foot pedal assembly. Just put a pig tail off the motor and the =
wheel
has been going strong for 8 years (maybe more) An expensive solution =
initially
but well worth it over time. This also work for Ci small wheels. Enough. MB
