Dear clayarters,
My copy of the latest issue of Studio Potter Network News arrived
yesterday.
It has a new format and is very well done and easy to read. It has a
great article about our pottery and folk art tour to Uzbekistan this
last April. The tour was arranged and led by Mehlika Seval who arranged
and led our 1996 pottery and folk art tour of Turkey. Meli will leading
another pottery and folk art tour to Uzbekistan in April 1999. If you
would like more information, please contact Meli at
melitour@unimedya.net.tr
If you live in the San Francisco bay area and would like to see the
pottery and folk I collected on the Uzbek tour, phone me and come see
it.
Barbara
ps It also has a great article on Neil Tetkowski's Common Ground Project

Yes, Barbara and Clayarters. There is a really good article in this
issue about potters and ceramics along the silk route in Uzbekistan.
Barbara is a really fun travel companion. We were in Latvia '91 and
Uzbekistan in '92 and '93. Anything she helps put together for clay
folks is guarateed to be a satisfying experience.

How does one get hold of this magazine? I have never heard of it.
Also, isn't there some sort of a b&B type group for potters? Like when
you travel you can stay w/ other potters or some such thing?

The subscription address is: Box 70, Goffstown NH 03045
1-6-3-774-3582, Fax 1-6-3-774-6313.
Orginally, when I was a member of the advisory committe, the Newsletter
was limited to members of potters' guilds. Its intent was to "focus on
groups rather than individuals." Thankfully, it has changed that
intent and now has a way for individuals to become part of the network.
They have created Independent Potters United and you become part of
that group when you subscribe. The last figure I had was $40 for
subscription/membership. Contact them at the above address and they can
give you details and membership form.

Bob,
I had problems downloading the gray room in the gallery section of The
Studio Potters Web page. I tried to leave a msg. in the guestbook coment
section referring to this problem but the msg was refused due to some
wrap error or something technical like that. What is the cause? Antbody
else having this problem? Mike /PowerMac 7200, Netscape 3.0
