In Japan there is a small city called Tokoname. Several discussion group
members, myself included have been fortunate to attend and participate in
the international(IWCAT).
workshop in Tokoname, that has taken place for many summers now. On one
parking lot downtown there is a small mountain of broken tile. Most of
this tile was created using the "damp dust" method of pressing and was
fired directly out of the press in continuously fired envelope kiln. The
process and the broken tile mountain are impressive sites to see.
