A Master Class with Jim Thomson
Sunday; February 21, 10 - 4 pm
Ottawa ceramic artists Jim Thomson will demonstrate the making of one of
his intricate Boboli pots (cone shaped, tipped on its side with a grid
covering the open part of the form) and explains how this intriguing
vessel form is the result of ideas generated from his 25 years of clay
experience. Watch and learn about his clay techniques while he reflects
on his relationship between the object and its function and how this
relationship offers a deeper form of expression. His slide
presentation, which begins the day, emphasizes the life experiences and
creative inspirations which have influenced his work.
His work has toured internationally and he has completed important
installations in government buildings working with imminent architects
in Ottawa.
$40. Members, seniors and students; $48 general public. Lunch not
included. Numbers will be limited so book early to avoid
disappointment. Telephone 4l6-586-8080.
