I do not know if this an urban legend or not, but when I was in school in our
glaze class i think I heard of a story about how people were throwing uranium
into a salt kiln and getting these great yellows, the whole inside of the kiln
was yellow also, someone got concerned and called OSHA, they showed up in
their shiny suits and walked up to the building and wouldn't even go in
because they said it was too hot.
Some schools still have the material, I know Alfred uses it but I think If
you want some bright yellows or oranges try Degusa stains. they are high temp.
