I don't know if directions come w/ this product when ordered,
but I. How much gum to how much water (assuming water should be hot)
2. How much resulting syrup to how much wet glaze
This is for application by DIPPING, not brushing.
TIA Karen Gringhuis

Hello Karen:

Vee Gum T isn't really a "gum". It's a montmorillonite mineral called
smectite and is very similar to macaloid. RT Vanderbuilt makes another
product called Vee Gum Pro that is a blend of smectite and CMC gum that is
recommended for glazes. Well, that's what I remember about vee gum pro from
my reading of product sheets anyway.

I use vee gum t in my porcelain body as a plasticizer,(1.5%), and as a sub
for macaloid in glazes. One to Two percent added to dry batches and mixed
well before hydrating works well. I was told that one should use half the
amount of macaloid(hectorite) as a sub for bentonite in glazes. I used the
same rule of thumb for vee gum t and it works just fine and I've never had
to blunge the stuff with hot water and add the resulting "goo" to my glazes.
Just weigh out the desired amount and mix well dry first.
