visit to connecticut

updated fri 6 nov 98

gari whelon on sun 1 nov 98

I will be visiting Connecticut from the 4th to 10th of November and most of
my time will be taken with some sad and urgent concerns with my wifes family
in Guilford.

If I am able, and if it is appropriate for me to take some time away from
these events I am wondering if anyone has suggestions of potteries/potters I
must not miss or if any clayarterers are in the vicinity.

I would also appreciate it if anyone can get me in contact with Todd Piker,
I'd love to see his kiln if possible.

Any other woodfirers down there?

I'll sign off clay art on Monday but any replies before then would be
appreciated and if I miss any thanx anyway and I'll save the advice for
another visit.

Todd Piker's studio/ kiln is worth the trip. It is in Cornwall Bridge or
Cornwall.
(I've misplaced his phone number) Telephone information probably could supply
you with the number. When in Guilford, visit the Guilford Handcraft Center.
It is on Rt 77 going out of the center of town, just after you go under the
highway ( I-95). People in the office there should know how to get in
touch with him. Another possibility: North of Guilford about 20 miles on
Rt 77 is
Middletown, CT. The Wesleyan Potters Guild there would also have information
about Todd Piker. Both centers have showrooms of work.

Sorry your visit to Guilford is sad. I do not live near there but am taking
a sculpture course there on Tuesday afternoons. It's a good place.
