A friend of mine has a really nice website (http://tscnet.com/~janh/ ) and
wants to know how she can link with other sites.

Do you

1. Locate ones that look good and ask?
2. Pay?
3. Hook in with some kind of organization that can do this for you?

Suggestions?

One thing your friend can do is to simply place a link(s) onto her
pages wherever she wishes. Most people simply place some HTML coding, such
as:

desired linkage) PaintShop Pro Of course, this is the address for Paint
Shop - a wonderful painting/drawing/color program I love (usual disclaimer).

---They place this coding within their page at any location they wish.
Naturally, the webster will be using an editing device such as Microsoft
Word for the Internet Explorer or editing within Netscape, or using the AOL
editor or Pagemill for the Mac or whatever. This will produce a link on the
actual page.
So, in other words, you will find that as you surf, people simply
link themselves (their pages) to any site they find interesting. Most
people are complimented if they ever find out that persons have linked
themselves to their sites. Otherwise, there are webrings to which your
friend could connect. ( just surf/search Dogpile ( a massive search engine
- or Yahoo or Infoseek or any of your favorite search engines for webrings.
You really don't have to pay.
