Does anyone out there have the formula for a Smooth, whitish, plastic,
throwing body for use at ^10 in reduction??
I have one formula but it tends to be a little spongy so I'm looking for
something that will stay tight while throwing and not have to high a
shrinkage rate. Thanks, Ben

Hi Ben,
Here's the white body we use at Iowa State Univ. Needs to age for about
three weeks for best throwing, but I like it.
ISU White Stoneware Clay (makes 100 lbs.)
1 cup white vinegar
1 cup Bentonite (drilled with water until thoroughly dispersed)
20 lbs. Ball Clay (Milby, Ky. OM 4, or other white-burning ball clay)
45 lbs. #6 Tile clay or Kaolin
20 lbs Custer feldspar
15 lbs 325 mesh Silica
