The Craft Guild of Dallas (that would be Texas) is sponsoring a clay workshop
with Maria Spies from Jan. 19 through Jan. 23, 9:30 to 4:00 each day. This 5
day workshop is titled "Clay Surfaces: Throwing, Decorating, and Treatments."
The daily topics include: Throwing multiple piece forms, When to texture or
alter a form, Trimming and assembling multiple piece forms, Mixing and using
slips, stains, and engobes, and Saggar firing.
Maria Spies is an accomplished potter and teacher and this event should be a
high point of the ceramic year for the participants. The enrollment is
limited to 15 for this hands-on workshop.
