There are plans to build an electric potters wheel for under $75.00 in
the April 1988 issue of Ceramics Monthly. I know several people who
built it and they say it works great. It uses a car wheel assembly ( a
rim filled with plaster and a motor with a shaft that is moved against
the rim when speed is needed.)

Carolyn,
I would lke to discuss your whelloff list if possible......I am interested
in finding some good used wheels for the new pottery center we are opening
in northern Wisconsin.....
thanks,

I was thinking the same thing here in Indiana. I'm betting the shipping
would just kill the whole deal though unfortunately. Otherwise, I'd love to
take you up on it too.

idea
how much it would cost to put it on a slow freight? I wonder if it'd be

While I have had this wheel for a long time, it has not been used
consistently. I has basically a hand builder and prefer to be. It is
a Shimpo-West, RK-2 Potter's Wheel... Has all its original parts and
what ever came with it when bought I've decided it was time to let go

I'd like $200 for it but can talk about it. I'm based in Stone

Hi Carolyn:
I emailed you off list telling you I was very very
interested in your wheel. We have a community ceramic studio and we could use
your wheel. We are right here in Brooklyn New York and could take a ride up
there as early as this weekend to check it out. If it is in decent shape we
would definitely take it. Hope to hear from you soon.

Looit. I live about 5 hours north of New Paltz. We have elderly friends
who drive from here to Florida for the winter in two days. We knew one who
went in one day. Kids get 4 to a car and take turns driving and make it in
one day.
I simply cannot believe there is no one in New Paltz who would give that
poor wheel a lift to his/her college somewhere in the South whence if could
be picked up n an overnight trip from Florida. Maybe someone at SUNY New
Paltz would give it a ride next Christmas hols. or Spring Break.
This is a wheel, guys. Show some compassion...

A sample UPS ground rate from say the NY city area to Denver, CO for a
134# item that measures 30" x 18" x 18", packaged by you, and insured for
$300 would cost $65.59.

Not only a little compassion but more than a little lust! This is an RK2
folks! The "Classic" Shimpo. This wheel is the reason why a lot of
people still by Shimpos thinking that they're getting that great,
powerful cone drive.
The new Shimpos are good, even very good but this wheel was great!
Phil Pourburka should buy this wheel! ;-)

If I were selling a wheel, I wouldn't want to have to pack it for shipping
and would charge lots of $$$ if I did. There are probably potters locally
that would love to buy it. Try posting it at schools and art centers with
pottery classes. good luck, Patricia Harden
