Hi Matthew,
I have a blind friend that works in clay. He can handbuild quite effectively
and can throw. He fires kilns but the glazing has eluded him and his friends
and family glaze his work for him. He describes what glaze or finish he wants
on a particular piece and they do the actual glazing for him.
I recall him saying the same thing that you did about the glazing---how would
he know whether the piece was entirely covered in glaze? I don't know if there
is a solution but I just wanted to let you know that another person who is
sight-impaired has experienced the exact same problem.
I hope that you discover a solution that works for you.
Sincerely,
Dana Henson
