another illmenite question

I'd like to try the "Moonlight" glaze with powdered
illmenite, but I don't have any.
I DO have 50 pounds of rutile, titantium dioxide, and
red iron oxide.

Rutile is a mineral that consists of titanium and iron.
So is illmennite, but with a higher proportion of iron,
so why not use a rutile/iron oxide or titanium/iron oxide
mix to make an illmenite equivalent?
Since all the ingredients are finely milled, they should
mix well.

Any suggestions as the proper proportions to make
synthetic illmenite?

Hello Henry,
if you use the theoritical molecular formula Tio2.Feo
each percent of your ilmenite could be substituted for by:
0.51% Rutile,
0.4898% Iron oxide
If we had the chemical analysis of your Ilmenite and Rutile we
could get a better substitution.
