The best, the most beautiful Black I've come across is the Robert Speirs
Silver Black on the San Diego State University glaze archive maintained by
Richard Burkett. Go to http://art.sdsu.edu/ceramicsweb/
This is a solid black glaze that covers smoothly and breaks with a Blue-gray
shadow. I spray it and would do all my pots with it if I could trust that
black pots would sell.
