About two years ago I had my Skutt 1027 moved from South Florida to Texas. We
used Suddath United who moved everything for us. They kept the kiln intact and
wrapped the whole thing in lots of layers of movers padded blankets. Then they
ran straps from top to bottom around the kiln to hold all of the sections
together pus the stand. I have an envirovent coming out of the bottom of kiln
and we left that on. The kiln moved with only one small chip to the soft brick
in the lid and fired right up without a problem in Texas. Soon I'm moving
again, from Texas to California, and I plan on doing the same thing unless
someone out there has a better idea.
