i have had several out of country requests for pete's cranberry.
it ran in claytimes with a great theory article that all that are interested
in red should read.
many of you do not see or read claytimes......
so.
cranberry red.
cone 10, best on light colored body or porcelain, but ok with
stoneware...........i use both.
custer felspar 73.8
gert. borate 10.2
whiting 11.1
silica/flint 4.9
add
copper carb .35
tin 1.0
as pete has said........the red comes during the cool down.
i always light my gas kiln at 1700f and bring it back to about 1900, takes
about
10 minutes. (when i have a great deal of red)
or burn wood and re/warm the kiln.
that is a trick i learned from nils.
do not rush the cool down during the 1700f time.

p.s.
i have had a great many questions again about getting the kiln off the
block..with
expanded metal.
it helps the kiln breath from the bottom......it sure works.
and it is an old trick in industry.
it just takes potters a long time to change anything.
as i have said many times.........look at a 1950 high school science
book........find
anything that is still true.
