sodium bicarbonate in glazes (baking soda)

Has any of you had any experience with using sodium bicarbonate in glazes?

Also, I've read that soluble materials such as this will cause problems in
the glaze bucket. I understand the part about pouring off excess water will
take some of the soluble sodium with it. But what are the other problems
associated with using something like baking soda?
