Looking back in my old Day Timer, I see that when I visited
the Freer archives in Nov,1996, the curator in charge was
Tara Coran (202)357-4880 x305. She had just taken over
from Jim Smith. They allow (or at that time allowed) groups
of up to 12 accompanied by an instructor. (Adults only, I assume).
Jim Smith let us sit at a padded table and pass the pots around;
Tara Coran had only been on the job a few weeks and wouldn't
let us touch anything. I don't know who is currently in charge.
Good luck arranging a tour - it's an amazing experience.
