throwing with a sponge

Hi everybody,

Am I the only one who thought the Krueger web site was funny? I read
the part about the 12-step program, and thought "Hey, these people have
a sense of humor", and wanted to read more. There are many other
humorous bits, even in their on-line catalog (i.e.: cork stoppers/film
canisters and Orton cones). I thought these are people I want to do
business with. I did not feel the least bit insulted. Even though I
sometimes throw with a sponge or two, I'm not overly sensitive about
it. Now, if they had suggested a 12-step program for people who throw
without a drip tray, I might have gotten in a snit.

If you focus too much on the silly sponge thing, you might miss some of
the really good advice in that piece on throwing. For instance, I had
never tried smoothing the rim with the area between my fingers before.
I have tried it since, and like it. They do seem a teensy bit convinced
that their way is the only right way, but we've all had teachers, or
BEEN teachers, who felt that way. Maybe we should give them a break.

One thing's for sure. This thread has gotten a lot of people to check
out the Krueger web site, which is, by the way, a very nicely done
site. Most of us had probably never heard of Krueger before this.
We've heard of them now!
