Lana,

>> Hi Russell, I'm not expert enough to give you a crit, but thought I'd
visit your site, and I do love your pots, a critique of the site is: more
please! <<

Soon as I get more time. I've got lots already on a CD just have to "web
process" them. And anyone is "expert enough"

>> Now, a question. In my experience, terra sig is absolutely not
waterproof, in fact, if the pots get wet, the surface starts to pop off. I
know this is not the case with Greek, or for that matter, Native American
ware, as it was designed to be used. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Can't really say. Usually mine stays on. I apply it in 4 or 5 thin coats,
dipped and don't usually have a problem. Most of my stuff isn't used with
water though. I sold a large, heavy bowl at an exhibition recently that was
one of the most waterlogged pieces I'd ever made. Sat full of water in the
gallery for 4 weeks and never flaked. I was actually worried that it would
flake if they let it dry out but the woman who bought it uses it filled with
water, leaves, potpourri, whatever and it hasn't yet.

Maybe it's because of the teak oil I use. I don't use waxes very often
because they're too much work and I get better color, texture response with
oils. Teak oil is a drying oil meaning that it drys into a fairly impervious
layer.
