Hello,
I just got a copy of the No. 7 1998 Ceramics Technical Magazine from
Australia and it has the most wonderful article about Lusterware reduced
pigment glazes by Bob Connery.
The bad part is that the glaze formulas are given using frits in the
Australian Ferro 4000 series that are not mentioned in any of the books I
have.
Does anyone have the formulas or USA substitutes for these: 4110,4364,and 4124?

Hi Fred,
the formulas for these frits are as follows
4110 4364 4124

Si02 3.007 1.950 2.570
Al203 0.107 0.085 0.157
K20 0.070 0.036
Na20 0.644 0.287
Ca0 0.286 0.677
B203 0.100 0.556
Pb0 1.00

The Ferro frits seem to have some Pemco equivalents, but you would have to
check with the manufacturer. Regards, Denise & Viv

Hi Fred,

They keep changing the frit numbers over here as well. Ferro Frit 4064 (was 4364
and is a lead bisilicate frit, 4110 (was 3110) is a high alkaline frit and 4124
(was 3124) is a hard borax(leadless) frit. Perhaps the older numbers are still i
use in the US.If you need the approx. analysis contact me off list.

Thanks to all for the info. I am getting it together from several of you
who have responded, some from off list.
The equivelent USA Ferro frits seem to be:
Aust.4110 = 3110 USA almost exact match
Aust. 4364...which they now call 4064 = approx. 3403 USA (use extra
silica)-- a lead frit.
Aust.4124 = 3124 USA.almost exact match
