Peter,

I like Olympic. Good company, Good folks. Well made raku kiln, and if
you have to use a store bought kiln, this one is fine. It is exactly
what you describe, steel banded brick construction, and if you get the
big one,it is essentially their ^10 gas kiln in a crank up model. Easy
to load! Olympic's gas kiln fires very easily to ^10, and pretty even
if you don't rush it up to temperature. As a raku kiln, just pour in
the heat and have fun. I use a home made car kiln, and have for almost
30 years, but this is a good answer, too. Someone just donated an old
(small version) Olympic raku kiln to the Armory Art Center, and it works
perfectly. My students are going to love it.
