Hi Don,
Two options for getting rid of the canvas texture.
One- lay a very fine textured material or thin cardboard over and under
the clay before you roll.
Two- take a soft rubber kidney and wipe down the clay after you roll the
slab. You can make the slab smooth as a baby's proverbial bottom very
quickly.
