The workshop seemed to go well. Lots of nice folks there.
There was significant laughter, a matter of importance. I
got to meet a number of Clayart folks, including Barney
and Stuart Altmann - a pleasure, always. Mel had several
of us staying at his house, so of course sleep was in short
supply. But there was a lot of story telling (I just listened,
can't compete on a story level with guys like Ron Roy and
Mel. On further consideration, however, I realize that I
may now be able to tell stories ABOUT Ron, Mel - hmmm. No,
no, I swear I won't tell. Probably. Maybe. Unless I'm really
really pressed for good material...) We did get to see some
of Ron's slides. Jeeeeeeeez...very humbling. Elegant is the
only word. I'm with Tony C. here. The world may actually
NEED more RR pots.

In short, it was a good time, I learned more than I taught, as
usual. Mel and Sharlene took good care of all, fed us, made
sure we got where we needed to be when, and generally smoothed
the way. Mel and Kevin did their big pot/little pot dual throwing
demo, always a delight to see/hear. Doug Gray showed us his
double-wall bowls, including a bit of carving of surfaces. I can
never believe it can be done so quickly, beautifully. And Kerry
Brooks told us about the adventure of deciding to set up a studio,
and then just jumping in with both feet and a couple of friends, and
DOING it. They've got a good thing going, and some terrific space.

There was more, but this is long enough I expect. Sufficient to say
that there was always something going, not much down time.
