digital cameras and scanners early adopter's

I too have investigated digital cameras and also am into technical stocks in
the equity markets and research the latest advances and frankly feel that the
technology is at the edge of some really great developments but from what I
have researched there are some major developments that are not yet available
to the customers and some at premium prices that will orphan the early
adopters equipment now available .If you have to have something now be aware
that anything you hope to be archival may not have the technology behind it if
you are not careful. The VCR format everyone uses so faithfully will soon go
the way of the 8 track tapes.By the way, rewind those VCR tapes annually to
save their images in as good a quality as possible.
I am from a family of early adopters and it is a very pricy route and the
technology quickly leaves you behind and the price drops dramatically and
companies even with the best products are not necessarily the ones who
financially survive. If you want the latest follow my last post in deciding but
if your funds are limited you will be rewarded with the wait..just,for
example,.look at camcorders,computers,microwaves and tv's now.Also do not
spend much money on tv's now they will also be rather useless before long.If
you buy a tv now get one with the built in vcr and plan to use it to view all
the old vcr tapes when the tv is no longes of use.Technology will evolve
faster and faster in the coming years and it will have much to offer and we
potters need to keep up as it will indeed serve our needs but justifying its
cost must be evaluated in the business realm.Remember tho that ,with the new
technology, it is more likely replacement is cheaper than repair...sigh.Beware
of buying used many equipment problems curse the "BARGAIN" as virus and other
crash problems could make a great sounding deal sour. Also on the internet
whetehr thru bulletin boards or auctions there are many crooked types.C.O.D.
IS SAFEST BUT ONLY IF YOU CAN OPEN THE PACKAGE BEFORE ACCEPTING IT.Stories
abound of people who never got their merchandise or are sent junk not even
what was advertised or broken down stuff. It is really a buyer beware
atmosphere.Comparing products when there are so many variations and the need
to coordinate the products both hardware and software. Many ads will tell you
good stuff that things do but they do not list shortcomings and whether it is
the best solution for what you need now and will still have in service a few
years from now.
Sorry this is so long.
Good LUCK,
Margaret
