Emily,
I once had an Olympic gas kiln and what I did to reduce it was to drill
a hole in the floor and pump raw gas into the kiln at the appropriate
time. I used a special stainless steel nipple to go through the floor.
It was a crummy solution --- but it was a crummy kiln too. I was never
able to get rid of flashing on the pots because the flame was too close.
There was also not enough insulation to cool the pots properly.
My advice is to get rid of the kiln and to build something wonderful.
Why waste more time?
John
