To anyone who lives in or knows Columbus........
I noticed in my AAA book that the Hyatt parking cannot accomodate full size
vans. What is the parking like in that area?

Bobbi:

The folks running the Ohio Belt Clay Tour gave me the following
information. The Hyatt Regency has no parking garage but offers valet
parking at $15 per night. The Convention Center offers three options:
an underground garage for $10 per 12-24 hours, Surface Lot North [@
Goodale Ave. & North High St.] and Surface Lot East [Norht 4th and
Nationwide Blvd.]. Both are $9 for 12 - 24 hours. Boggs Park & Ride,
1/12 blaocks east of the Convention Center. You put $15 in a prepay
envelope and write your license # on it for him to register. Parking Co
of America has 4 surface lots on Norht 4th but you have to make
arrangements by mailing an SASE and chekc or money order for the time
you are staying. It is $3.50 a night. If you want their address and
phone, e-mail me directly.

I finally heard from the nice man that is the parking lot manager for the
Columbus Convention Center. For people with large vans, there are two surface
lots. The one closest to the Hyatt is at the corner of Nationwide Blvd and N.
4th st. The cost is $5 per day or $10 / 24hrs. I did not get the costs for the
garages. There are several in the area-one is a block west on Front St and
the one connected to the Conv. Ctr. I hope this helps to welcome you to
Columbus and I apologize in advance for all the construction that we have
going on. One day it will be wonderful but right now an aggravation. We have
had to do quite a bit of creative thinking when going different places to
figure entrance and exit ramps, etc. and this after living here for over 50
years!

I'm driving to Denver from Tucson and staying with my daughter in
Broomfield. Can someone familiar with downtown suggest where I might
park each day I drive in to the convention?

As someone who lived in Boulder for 15 years (west of Broomfield), I can
attest that it is much easier to park at a Park and Ride and take the RTD
bus to downtown (Market Street station). Then use the 16th Street free mall
shuttle to take you up to the intersection of Court and 16th. The Adams Mark
hotel is half a block south of the mall. The RTD costs about 2.00 each way
from Broomfield, and there is a major park and ride in Broomfield on Highway
36 (the road between Denver and Boulder).

If you must drive into downtown, take lots of $$ for a parking lot and try
to get as close as you can. I'd take I-25 to Speer South exit, then toward
downtown, and try to find a parking lot near Court. Not impossible, but not
as easy or as cheap as the bus from someplace like Broomfield.

Good luck and see you there!
