I think these definitions are a bit outdated. The fine arts are so broadly
inclusive, with mixed-media, conceptual, installation art and so many other
genres. In many cultures worldwide and through history, pot makers are fine
artists. And any fine artist worth his/her salt is also an artisan of the
first order. Such seemingly clear-cut definitions often obscure the matter
rather than clarify.
