plaster life casting

As an "artist" and former artist's model, I just HAVE to put this out there.
I have been on both ends of the procedure.

Have a bathroom handy before and after the casting. No beers for 2 hours
before.
Saran will sometimes leave it's own impression. Depends on how you do the
first layer of plaster. ("Flicking" creamy plaster will pick up EVERYTHING.)
But it's necessary for some hairy parts of the body the model doesn't feel
like shaving and then dealing with regrowth stubble. (The HEAD, you guys!)
Otherwise, SHAVE it if it's hairy! Use Crisco. LOTS. EVERYWHERE! Vaseline
blocks pores=zits.

Have a heater nearby. Even if the room is warm to you, it will be cold for
the poor person draped in wet plaster, which will then heat up and be REALLY
uncomfortable for about 15 minutes, and s/he will sweat. And maybe swear. If
you don't think you are getting your money's worth from your model, go sit
in an uncomfortable position for 20-30 minutes, then stand up and feel the
pins and needles as your leg (whatever) wakes up from being asleep.

Good luck. It can be a really fun experience.
