celadon-type glaze for ^10 ox

There was a query posted recently looking for a celadon glaze in
oxidation. The following is a Ron Roy revision of a ^10 oxidation
celadon-type glaze that he adjusted for me:

Base Glaze:

Custer 33

Whiting 18

Strontium 3

Flint 30.5

EPK 15.5

TOTAL 100

Add:

Any Mason stain 15

Ron advised that the stronium would preserve certain stain colors
better.

I tried this out on Mac clay using 12% stain instead of 15%. Got
varying results depending on the stain used:

Florentine French -- good color, but way too matt

French Green -- great color, stain matt, but no depth

Vivid Blue -- Color ok, but way too matt

Deep Crimson -- a keeper: nice glossy oxblood red, breaks on texture

Old Gold -- Definitely gold, satin matt, breaks on texture

Medium Blue -- Great glossy cobalt blue

This glaze needs to be dipped, not brushed. Has been known to crawl
off edges when used on porcelain.

Good luck and be well!
