Hello all!
I have been away from clayart for a number of months, due to a recent
wedding (mine), and getting ready to move to Denmark, later in the year!
I am still secretary of the Tozan Cultural Society, here in Nanaimo, on
Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, however, and I would like to
pass along some information about our summer plans.
As you may or may not know, we had a chimney meltdown at our firing last
summer, and are in the process of rebuilding. We hope to be up and
running soon, as long as our new chimney and burner system pass the
test!
We plan to fire our large Noborigama 4-chamber kiln twice this year, and
for those of you who may be interested, I will outline the timeframes:
28 May intake of pots
29-31 May loading kiln
31 May- 5 June firing kiln
13 June unloading kiln
13 August intake of pots
14-16 August loading kiln
16-21 August firing kiln
28 August unloading kiln
We are planning workshops around the same time as the firings, and I
will post these as details are firmed up.
If you would like any information about joining the Tozan Cultural
Society, and joining us at a firing, please do not hesitate to email me.
Cheers from Nanaimo, BC,
(where there's snow on Mount Benson, but the daffodils are in bloom here
at sea level)
Jan Jokinen
