Hello all. I'm forwarding these questions I received from Khaimraj
Seepersad about my glaze leach test results. In answer to the questions,I
only tested Floating Blue for cobalt because I thought that was the only oxide
in the glaze that might be harmful if leaching. Also I thought that if the
tested oxide was not leaching, then the other ingrediants would also be
stable. I have used Floating Blue for nine years and have many pieces that I
have personally used for that long. the surface has remained glossy, is easily
cleaned, does not stain, and does not scratch. I don't use a dishwasher, but
friends have regularly used the dishwasher for Floating Blue pots with no
observable glaze effects. I did not plan to send any pieces for retesting
after use; does anyone think that would be a good idea? And thank you
,Khaimraj Seepersad, for offering to help with costs for testing but I had to
test my glzes for my own peace of mind, and it costs nothing to share the
results with others. I do plan to test other glazes in the future, and will
post the results.
