Any Clayarters have info concerning Bed and Breakfasts in Door County
Wisconsin? ... potters places would be highly desirable. Weaving spots
would be great, too. I have a potter/weaver friend who isn't on Clayart
yet who will be back there soon and would love some clues as to possible
B&Bs, pottery, weaving etc.

Thank you as always, dear claybuds.

Hello Joyce,

Expect you will have much to see in Door County... we have only lived here
three years but have loved this place since I first visited it some twenty
years. Can get crowded with tourists in the summer but if you know a few
things it is amazing what there is to be enjoyed. It is great water
country..... 12 lighthouses, island parks, shoreline parks, unique
landscapes...... yada yada.

First advice is to contact the Chamber of Commerce which will probably be
very active and effective in giving
you all kinds of places you can spend money.... they can be reached at
920-743-4456. Many Door County businesses are on websites. Let me know
if you have difficulty making a decision on a B&B - I know of most of
Sturgeon Bay (southern DC) but not too many of the Northern ones. Many
other arrangements are also possible.
Before I go on to Potters let me mention that Shoreline in Gills Rock has
rooms with views, great location,
great restaurant at the tip of the Peninsula and if you're even a little bit
of a water person I think you will like, but not a B&B at all so.....

There are some 8 Pottery shops. Abe Cohen in Fish Creek has to be the
Father of the local potters - Potters
Wheel Gallery 1-920-868-3371. My partner is up in Ellison Bay and does
exceptional Stoneware.

I know very little about weaving but am aware of a school/store/shop on
Washington Island that seems to have impressed my the only weavers in my
life. Sorry I can't think of name but know it is North on this small
island
community - everybody will know it.

If you get to Washington Island I think you may enjoy seeing the Stav Kirche
community project - it is a fantastic experience. I can get you literature
on it if you like..... lots of history.

I'm "doing tiles" in Sturgeon Bay and we are on our way to being able to
create some very unique murals. We keep a Sailboat about a block away and I
am always looking for an excuse to go out..... my number is 746-8705.

Hope you Enjoy your Stay!!

George
