Hi all,
My favorite is the OLSEN 24 cu ft Kiln Kit.
Look for info. in "Ceramics Monthly" ads.
Propane or Natural gas burners available. The Olsen Kiln is a do- it-
-yourself kit that saves a bunch o'bucks on the cost and shipping
costs.
I built mine in Anchorage in 1977 in 24 hours with zero help.
( I must admit I had helped Fred Olsen build a few of them in grad.
school... and after that, but with a few friends and a lot of studying
the plans...and reading Olsen's book ( The Kiln Book.) the process was
not too bad.
While I struggled with how to design my studio....and how to vent the
kiln.......I learned just enough to write a couple small articles on
general studio design, venting techniques/rules , etc.....
Published in "Ceramics Monthly". Jan 1981 p. 49-53 "Selecting and
Designing a Studio" ....and...
December 78 p. 33 " An Inexpensive Studio Sink Trap".
... then "Kiln Ventilation" in Dec. 1979 issue p. 36-38
......and finally an article on "Potter's Ribs" in Oct 79 p. 37
Hope these might be helpful to you. Look in the archieves for C. M.
Regards ...
and Happy Potting !!
