Has anyone out there built the following?

An approximately 75 cu. ft. propane gas kiln. I plan for it to be a car
kiln and to primarily use soft fire brick - firing to cone 11. I have
the Olsen Kiln Book and am soliciting any information to aid in this
endeavor.

Thanks for any input.

Hi, I've built 85 cu ft. propane down draught ^10ers. One had doors and was
built from expanded steel and cera-blanket. Another was brick. I'd
personally do the steel and fiber one again before the brick: cheaper,
faster, more efficient to fire. Questions: jpar@montrose.net

Jean,
Get a copy of Nils Lou's The Art of Firing. There's a lot of very
applicable information in there. I have built an MFT using his methods and
it fires like a champ. I have fired kilns made according to Olsen's specs,
and some are good and some are problematic. I think he gives a lot of
information about kilns that don't work very well, so you have to be
careful. This is not to say _all_ his information is suspect, though.

Jan -
I have curiousity about the fiber kiln. You mention a blanket, is there
anyway to use blocks of fibre-fax. I have a mountain of 6x6 blocks, that
are just looking for something to be put to use on. While I have some
thinner material - I'm sure that it wouldn't be enough.

Any thoughts, I'm considering posting to the list for input...
