This depends on which Shimpo model you have. If it is the RK-1, then you
need to get a dry lubricant spray and apply it to the horizontal slide which
carries the motor frame, and then use a little household oil to lubricate
the pedal-shaft bearings and the linkage to the motor frame. If it is a
RK-2, you need to use a little household oil to lubricate the pedal shaft,
but be careful not to lubricate the adjustable clutch which determines
pedal-movement-resistance. After you oil the shaft bearings, you can adjust
the pedal shaft clutch to get the amount of pedal resistance you want. If
you have too little resistance on the RK-2, the pedal will change speed on
its own whenever you remove your foot.

If you have a newer Shimpo you will need to get advice from someone less
stuck-in the-past than me.
