Hi. Simple question; can you apply slips to bisqued ware? I love surprises
so I'm going to try it anyway but I just wanted to know if there are any
inconveniences or precautions to take. I have these old favourite pieces
that had been "fired" and I want to get rid of this ugly pink stuff. Any
sig-suggestions?
I'd also like to thank all those who helped me with the construction of my
raku kiln. getting @ cone 010 and smokin'. Big thanks. Couldn't have done
it without you.

yes, you can aply slips to bisque, it has to be formulated for that purpose
tho, as if it shinks too much it will craze and crack off while drying. i
have a base recipe for such a slip and it has worked on wet/green and
bisque... mix as follows...ball clay-20 kaolin-20 neph sy-10 borax-5
whiting-5 flint-25 and soda feld-15. good luck! by the way, i'm new
here... cool site!!

Rhodes has a "chart" of engobe(slip) recipes for application on clay in
different stages--damp, bone dry and bisqued. Check it out.
