african kaolin

Several days ago someone was talking about other uses for ceramic materials.
Although this site says nothing about the use of clay on the body, it does
give some interesting information regarding the use of Kaolin.
This site is from the Canadian Museum of Civilization. The work is from
the Tervuren Museum in Belgium. The stool is from the Luba culture in
Africa.

Symbols/Materials: mpemba (white kaolin) another royal symbol; this sacred
powder symbolizes the chief's alliance with the spirits of his kingdom.
