If environmental concerns are an important focus and motivator in your
decisions ....... Well, I think NONE of us should be using a kiln of ANY
kind. We're using fuels..PERIOD. (Let's strip acres of forest to fire all
the wood kilns)
Then it's the matter of using toxic, hazardous, irritating and expensive
materials and metals that should be staying in the ground.
Potters should, en masse, move into a more friendly media. I propose we
all become weavers of natural fibers that we raise ourselves.
In lieu of that decision, we make the most informed choice available. Gas
kilns aren't better than electric or vice versa. It all depends on your
needs and desired end product. ( and which one works in your location )
I do what I can where I can, but I've stopped trying to save the world.
From Alohaland, Ditmar.
