Dear Clayarters
Being new in America (I am from South Africa),I can really appreciate
the info that I get from Clayart.
Can anyone out there help me in catching up with the names and
description of your raw materials,or tell me were I can find that
information. An example of the info I need will be: EPK is a
kaolin...does it contain any iron or is it pure? What kind of feldspar
is custer
feldspar and so forth.
Another problem that I experience,is adjusting to the right wheel. My
previous wheels were mechanical standing wheels with a big coneshaped
bowl attached around the wheel head. There was a stool attached to sit
on at just the right height and very steady if I had to use my whole
body to center a big piece of clay. I do not mind to change to an
electronic wheel but I really miss the fact that the wheel head could
easily be turned around by hand. Can anybody advise me on this please.
Since I am an alien American, I would like to know from other potters
with the same status as me,if they could enter into competitions and if
they did so,what is the procedure to follow.
Thank you for all this information.
