Two of my friends own and operate The Brickyard Campus, A
not for profit dedicated to Art and Nature. It is the
site of a brick factory, there were 5 very large bee-hive
kilns; I say were because there are only 4 now, one
collapsed. Needless to say there is a very, very large pile
of bricks there just waiting for the time again that they
can lead a useful, productive and hopefully creative life.
The Brickyard is in Colchester Illinois, a very small
community in Western Illinois, about 50 miles from the
Mississippi River on Rt 136. Its still a dry town, but
that doesn't stop us from having loads of fun when we all
get together for a weekend of raku and glassblowing.
