I've tried several things on bisqued pieces to give a soft sheen.
1) Lard: Just rub it on the bisque with your fingers or a soft cloth,
then polish with a soft cloth. Native American potters sometimes do
this. Results in a soft sheen. Initially there's a slight odor (my dogs
were very intrigued with the pots) but that goes away.
2) Shoe polish: Used a neutral base coat, applied with a soft cloth, let
dry and polish with a soft cloth between coats. You can also get some
interesting effects by adding other colors of shoe polish, cordovan, for
example.
