Are any Clayarters attending Richard Aerni's Workshop in Arlington
Virginia On May 21, 22, and 23? It would be great fun to meet some of you,
if you are going to be there.
Richard, if you are on line these days and happen to see this, I am
so looking forward to this workshop and to meeting you, having read your
posts on Clayart. I live in New York, but have a daughter and family living
in Arlington, so arranged to be there for the workshop.

Dear Friends in Clay,
I just got back from Arlington, where I was able to mix clay and a
family visit. A highly recommended combination. I attended, along with
other Clayarters, a workshop by Richard Aerni. Having admired his work from
afar and read him on Clayart, I was thrilled at this opportunity, and it
was well worth the effort of going from New York to Arlington. I came away
rejuvenated and eager to get to a wheel.
Richard is not only a wonderful presenter, but he is amusing,
generous, and fascinating to watch. His methods are unusual, and it was a
delight to see his graceful pots take shape. His glazes are lovely, and he
shared a great deal of information with us. If anyone has the opportunity
to attend a workshop by him, I hope they will not even hesitate to take
time away from their studio to go. They will come away with a great deal of
knowledge, inspiration, and the desire to experiment.
I have been to quite a few workshops in the New York area, but I
found the Lee Art Center a great place for a workshop. Mary Briggs and
Darlene Tsukamoto had arranged everything beautifully and created a very
welcoming and comfortable setting for us all. I think everyone came away
enriched. It was just a great experience.
Needless to say, it was wonderful to meet fellow Clayarters, fun to
put faces to names, and I hope we will be able to keep in touch by e-mail
as Bonnie has already suggested.
