Dear Clayarters,
I have just wound up the 6th Annual May Clay Day fundraiser for the
Mental Health Center and Mental Health Month. We had thousands of people
turn out to try their hand on potters' wheel and handbuilding, whistle
making, etc. Also had pottery sales, food, petting zoo, free tatoos,
food vendors, raku firing, sand pit for kids to play in the sand,
raffles for 30 prizes. I am beat!
Anyway, wanted to share the news about the Bailey new wheel. It was one
of over 20 wheels brought to the park. The Bailey has a slower max. rpm
than the Brent, shimpos. Stuart (fly wheel type). It has a nice mellow
speed. I throw dry but slow anyway. I thought it was a wheel worth
looking into if anyone is looking. It's nice, quiet, and gentle speed
on the foot pedal. It is not for "power" throwing of huge pieces. They
are new, and cost %599 for the factory. Bailey builds good equipment.-As
do several other companies.

where spring arrived two days ago and the sun shone all day yesterday.
Leaving for Spain in 8 days for paperclay workshop, flamenco music,
Gaudi architecture, and tiles at the Alhambra and the mosque in
Cordoba.-my reward for working hard after a year at school and community
service with the Mental health Center and its consumers. Adios!
